How to make double boil “Bain-Marie”?

A double boil (“Bain-Marie”) is simply a small pot placed in a bigger pot with some water. The purpose is to gently melt or boil the second pot placed inside the bigger one to avoid burning or too much heat to reach the second pot.

How To?

Step 1

Choose a pot that can accommodate a beaker inside, it can be a kitchen pot but make sure to dedicate this pot for cosmetic making only.

Step 2

Choose your beaker to accommodate the content, you can also select a second kitchen pot if you have no beaker available just make sure to dedicate it to cosmetic making only.

Step 3

Add the content you wish to melt or boil in the beaker or in the smaller pot.

Step 4

Add water into the bigger pot, enough water to boil but little water to make sure the second pot/beaker doesn’t float around.

Step 5

Place the beaker or smaller pot in the middle of the bigger pot.

Step 6

Start heating the pot, be sure to control the temperature to reach the melting/boiling point of the product.

Step 7

Stop heating and remove the smaller pot/beaker, careful it might be too hot!
